“Mohammad Amir can help Virat Kohli’s RCB to win the IPL trophy”: Former opener

The IPL 2025 will start on March 22, with defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB hasn’t won an IPL title despite being home to players like Virat Kohli, AB de Villers, Chris Gayle, and Mitchell Starc. Kohli is still associated with the team and wants to end the title drought in the 18th season of the tournament.

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir said he would love to play for RCB. Speaking on the ‘Haarna Mana Hai’ show, he took the Bengaluru-based franchise name.

Former opener Ahmed Shehzad said that Amir can change RCB’s fortunes and lead them to their maiden IPL title.

“RCB need a bowler like Amir to fix their bowling woes. They have good batting unit but their problem has always been a problem. If Amir plays for RCB, they will win the title,” he said.

Rashid Latif said no and mentioned that MS Dhoni’s presence on the CSK team would not allow RCB to win the title. “As long as Dhoni is with CSK, he will not allow RCB to win the title.”

Rajat Patidar was appointed captain after Virat declined the post. The star batter led the team for several seasons before giving up the role after failing to win a title.

Meanwhile, New Zealand defeated South Africa by 50 runs to qualify for the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. They will meet in Dubai, India, on March 9. Rachin Ravindra was named the Player of the Match for scoring a hundred and taking one wicket. In the previous match between the two sides, the Men in Blue registered a 44-run victory. Varun Chakravarthy took five wickets, and cricket experts hailed his inclusion in the Playing XI as India played four spinners in the contest.
