A massive crowd flooded a busy road in Saharanpur city in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday night to celebrate India’s Champions Trophy 2025 victory against New Zealand, bringing traffic to a standstill and prompting police officials to intervene.
The situation turned violent when a Sub-Inspector, attempting to disperse the crowd, snatched a Tricolour from a reveller and held it upside down.
The incident ignited tensions, resulting in clashes between the crowd and police personnel, with a video of the altercation surfacing on social media.
The video captured furious individuals surrounding the officer, who then walked off to a nearby police post for safety. Upon receiving information about the incident, personnel from three police stations arrived at the scene to disperse the crowd.
The Sub-Inspector met with massive protest from the crowd, who accused him of insulting the national flag. They also raised slogans against the cop, further raising tensions.
