Brook was always in DC’s plans and they re-signed him in the mega-auction. The right-handed batsman was Jos Buttler’s deputy in the 2025 Champions Trophy and could replace him. Buttler captained England for the last time in the ICC event.
Harry Brook can be banned for 2 years
Brook’s pullout could result in him getting banned from the league for the next 2 years. Frustrated with overseas players’ pullouts, the IPL franchises asked for a solution from the board.
Under the IPL rules, those who pull out of the league will now be banned for 2 years. Of course, no action will be taken against players who are injured.
“Any (overseas) player who registers for (an) auction and, after getting picked at the auction, makes himself unavailable before the start of the season will get banned from participating in the IPL/IPL auction for two seasons. The only exception, the governing council said, will be for “an injury/medical condition, which will have to be confirmed by the [player’s] home board,” IPL said before the mega-auction.
DC is the only team which hasn’t announced its captain yet. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis look the frontrunners to be bestowed with the top job.
