The International Cricket Council (ICC) has allocated a total prize pool of $6.9 million for the tournament, a substantial 53% increase from the 2017 edition. The victorious team will take home a whopping $2.24 million (approximately Rs 19.5 crore), while the runner-up will earn $1.12 million (around Rs 9.78 crore). Despite their semi-final exits, Australia and South Africa won’t leave empty-handed, as each losing semi-finalist will be awarded $560,000 (about Rs 4.89 crore).
India booked their place in the final after an intense four-wicket victory over Australia in the first semi-final. Meanwhile, New Zealand put up a commanding performance against South Africa, securing a convincing 50-run win and once again dashing the dreams of lifting an ICC trophy.
