Allrounder Ravindra Jadeja‘s wife and BJP MLA Rivaba is confident that the Indian team will get the better of Australia in the semifinal of the Champions Trophy 2025 on Tuesday. India entered the last-four stage after winning all their group matches and start favourites against the current world champions.
“Definitely we are going to win this match because right after India vs Pakistan, another interesting rivalry in cricket is India-Australia. We have witnessed from a couple of years that India-Australia matches are quite thrilling,” Rivaba told reporters on Tuesday.
“Not just me, but all cricket lovers in India are confident that we will definitely cross the semifinal hurdle. We will win this match. Good luck to Team India and cricket lovers. Hope we win thus match by a good margin,” she added.
India have previously won the Champions Trophy in 2002 (joint winners alongside Sri Lanka) and in 2013. They reached the final of the 2017 edition but lost to Pakistan.
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India are aiming to add another ICC title to their trophy cabinet having won the T20 World Cup last year.
India are in fine form having beaten the likes of New Zealand, Pakistan and Bangladesh en route to the semifinals.
India captain Rohit isn’t taking Australia lightly despite the current world champions missing five of their key stars in the tournament.
“It’s a great opposition to play against. We’ve been thinking about the last three games. And we have to approach that game in a similar fashion. We understand the opposition and how they play and stuff like that. But I think the more and more we focus on what we need to do as a group, as a player, as a batting unit, as a bowling unit, that helps us a lot,” Rohit said on match eve.
